Continuing with studies of faces.  For this piece I used a photo made available through The exercise was intended for watercolor, but I used oil on oil paper.  The size is 7.5 x 6.5 inches.  I'm calling it "Lady in Blue Scarf."

"Harvey" (6 x 8") is an oil painting on unstretched canvas from a photo taken by his mother.  His grandma lives next door to me.  This little guy, I am told, is happy all of the time.  I haven't been able to be close to him due to Covid distancing, but I was happy to spend some time looking at his happy face while practicing my skills at capturing a baby likeness.

Still isolating, staying home, and painting.  Today I worked on depicting transparency of glass.  This is something that I've done a fair amount with colored pencils and now I'm trying to achieve a similar effect with oils.  I'm calling this Study in Transparency and Texture.  It is 12x16" and gave me a reason to pull out some of the pretty glassware and bottles in my collection.
