The Kaewyn/Framewright Gallery in Bothell is having its annual Miniatures and small paintings show from December 2, 2011 through January 25, 2012. I have three small acrylic paintings in this show--each painting is 6 x 6" and framed to 12 x 12". Stop by the gallery if you have a chance.

EAFA 36th Annual Juried Show at Seattle Design Center

I have one piece accepted in this show--this time an acrylic on canvas piece. It is 16 x 20" and is called Spacious Skies. The show runs from November 8 through January 6, 2012. Parking is free. The Seattle Design Center is located at 5701 Sixth Ave. South, Suite P292, Seattle, WA 98108.

Also, the Celebrating Colored Pencil show is still showing at Semantics Gallery in Edmonds. My piece in that show, Stately Server, won a merchandise award.

The CPSA District Chapter 207 show is now open at Semantics Gallery, 110 4th Ave, Edmonds, WA. This show celebrates the 20th Anniversary of this chapter. Please visit the gallery to see the artworks; you won't be disappointed! I have one piece in this show.

The artists reception (Public Warmly Invited!) is this Sunday, October 23rd from 1 - 4 pm. I will be there and look forward to seeing friends and making new friends. If you can't make the reception the gallery hours are listed on the evite.

Please stop by the Citrine Health Center in Everett during the month of September to see a collection of my French Gray series. The organization at this location was formed to support and maintain healthcare and social services for women in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. They have lots of wide open wall space for viewing the artwork from a distance or up close. I would love to see you there, or stop by any day during their office hours.

Workshop on Alaska Cruise - Summer 2010

It's time to promote this wonderful opportunity to learn colored pencil and enjoy the beauty of the Canadian and Alaskan coastline. Ann Kullberg has organized another cruise which will be both relaxing and instructive. I have the privilege and opportunity to accompany Ann and Wendy Thompson as an instructor for this summer's cruise. I've been told that the food is wonderful, I'm sure the scenery is awesome, and the days at sea will be spent doing what we love best--using our colored pencils.

Shows in 2010

I've been working on a new phase of my french gray series using gray-toned paper rather than the white that I normally use. The paper gives the drawings a slightly warmer look, I think. You can see these drawings at the Women Painters of Washington Gallery at the Columbia Center Building in downtown Seattle starting February 2nd and going through April 30th. The show is titled "Light in the Air." The image to the left is titled "Balancing Act."

I will also have a drawing in the WPW Membership Show at the Kaewyn Gallery in Bothell, WA. This show will be March 19 though April 27.

Last month I also revamped my website at www.kaydewar.com and would love to have you "drop by" to see the artwork.

Update to WPW Show at American Art Company Gallery

The show opening reception was held this past Thursday evening (Sept 17) and I am happy to report that one of the pieces that I entered (and which is shown in my previous post) "Cup Full of Cherries" won a Third Place Award and also sold that evening. This was a real pleasant boost for me. My thanks to the Juror Margaret Bullock, the American Art Company Gallery, and to Women Painters of Washington and of course to the purchaser of the painting.

Vashon Island Venture

Blue Heron Gallery, Vashon Island, will be the next stop for my collection of artwork. Along with three other artists I have been invited to show my artwork at this prestigious gallery. Esperanza Grundy and I will cover the walls with our art and John Luke and Gordon Barnett will fill the room with wood and metal artwork. The gallery reception is Friday, August 7th, from 6 to 9 pm and it is open to everyone. It is likely to be a nice evening for a gallery visit and a ferry ride if you are not a Vashon resident. The gallery is at 19704 Vashon Hwy, and the show will continue from August 7 through 27.

Semantics Gallery

I also have artwork at Semantics Gallery, 110 4th Avenue North, Edmonds, WA. Semantics also has a great collection of 2D and 3D artwork--carvings, jewelry, etc. The Edmonds Art Walk is the 3rd Thursday of each month.

WPW Gallery, Columbia Center Bldg, 5th and Columbia, Seattle, WA

My work has also been in a 3 month exhibition on the 3rd floor of the Columbia Center Bldg. This exhibition comes to a close this Friday, July 31st. If you have a chance, stop by to see a very fine exhibit called “Summer Dreaming.”

CVG Statewide Exhibition
331 Pacific Ave, Bremerton

I am proud to announce that I will have one artwork included in this juried exhibition which opens February 1 and runs through the month at the Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton. There are 130 artworks which were juried by Gary Faigin, Artistic Director of Gage Academy in Seattle. These were chosen from over 800 works submitted by residents of Washington State. My piece is called “Still Life or Landscape.”

I have been invited by the City of Edmonds to display my colored pencil artwork there for the month of February. I will have 16 pieces there. Edmonds is always special to me since I grew up there and graduated from Edmonds High.

Semantics Gallery
110 4th Avenue North, Edmonds

I will have 5 mixed media artworks at Semantics during February. These are quite different from my colored pencil work. They start with a piece of black paper. Some of the paper is cut away, watercolored rice paper and other papers are added and on some of them colored pencil is layered over the top.

Now I need to get busy creating more for other upcoming shows to be announced later.

Group Show Opening Nov 3 at WPW Gallery, Columbia Center, Seattle

I will be a participant in a show entitled "Waters Alive!" at the Columbia Center in Seattle which will run from Nov 3, 2008 through Jan 30, 2009. The show brings together several agencies involved in promoting healthy urban waterways in the Puget Sound region.

There will be an artists reception open to the public on Nov 12 from 2 to 4 pm, 3rd floor of the Columbia Center Bldg at 5th and Columbia in Seattle. Please join us to see artwork created by 30 members of the Women Painters of Washington. One of my pieces is shown here--a multimedia collage using colored pencil, paper cut, and watercolored rice paper. More details about the show are at the womenpainters.com website.
