I still enjoy details and, as you can see from this piece, Floral Vista, the grassy floral shapes in the foreground have still captured my attention. Hopefully though you can still travel back through the scene easily and visit foreground, middle ground and distant mountain shapes. Both are 10 x 8" on canvas panels. These are based on photos that I have taken in the Pacific Northwest. In Edge of the Woods I experimented with more layers of color -- adding more and then scraping back -- both done with a palette knife.</p><p>The second image is Venturing into the Light. I'm not sure how long I will stay on this path, but for the moment, I'm enjoying it. After spending time working on keeping details and likenesses as most important, I am now playing with color and texture. First attempt was 4 small images. I've included my favorite of the four images. I'm titling it "Red Vase". The oil paint is mixed with cold wax and applied to the surface with a palette knife in multiple layers.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4iTKXwssVG3nzaM4MM1V9_P0B4yVPRll_lWhBREQ1oU381wlxutX9ekxs4b1pInwgm_RkFCoh5Uh1yK56OsqkEVuNt0-xbq2LQJioglFuH-9990LQFMxEaMwEFDItVnWx5eY7AfEpfQE/s1208/RedVase_coldwax1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1208" data-original-width="1000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4iTKXwssVG3nzaM4MM1V9_P0B4yVPRll_lWhBREQ1oU381wlxutX9ekxs4b1pInwgm_RkFCoh5Uh1yK56OsqkEVuNt0-xbq2LQJioglFuH-9990LQFMxEaMwEFDItVnWx5eY7AfEpfQE/s320/RedVase_coldwax1.jpg" width="265" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Red Vase" ©KayMDewar - 5x4inches - oil/cold wax</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Kay M. I love drawing/painting clouds and I had taken a sunset photo that I liked a lot. Although it doesn't quite capture the image of the photo, I think it captured the essence of the scene. I've been using the time of seclusion to upgrade my skills. The art community has been very generous and amazingly adaptive in offering online learning. </p><p>I have visited and revisited some favorite artist's websites and one site that includes art that I love is Jiegaoart.com. I am doing some "master studies" of his art with the goal of capturing some of the broad strokes, lost edges and color nuances that he produces. Jie Gao was kind enough to give me permission to post my drawings/paintings from his originals for this learning endeavor.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeeu6ABymS_GNVv3DvJ4YePLr494YQBncMf_JGZ3edoj6XiA6o96bDYM4zPYkhuqnHIaW01POCjlpARv754Rr8qi-QhyZtm42Rn4f1fEDIVfBg2zogUGlGd8XGCBLa6XpdHDqLb0j3FtE/s2000/Pastel-charcoal-Man.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeeu6ABymS_GNVv3DvJ4YePLr494YQBncMf_JGZ3edoj6XiA6o96bDYM4zPYkhuqnHIaW01POCjlpARv754Rr8qi-QhyZtm42Rn4f1fEDIVfBg2zogUGlGd8XGCBLa6XpdHDqLb0j3FtE/s320/Pastel-charcoal-Man.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Kay M. I put the lilacs in front of my window which has a macrame curtain. It gave the set up a bit of an ethereal feeling and I tried to capture that. This is Backlit Lilacs and Macrame Curtain - 12 x 12" - oil on canvas panel.<br />
